Workbench

I am almost done with two of my commisson pieces and since they require only some finishing touches (and time to dry for it :D) I decided to start some other projects.

I think I got finaly bitten by Yoko bug >.<
Got this beautiful, big kit on sale from E. She is totally gorgeous and very easy to put together (which was a reason I just had to work on her). I had some people asking me about my technique with pastel shading, go I am going to do a WIP on her skin tone. I actually already painted her skin and just need to put all the pictures together.

This is one of my favorite kits :D
I made Takeo before and I think she was one of the turning points in my improving painting skills.
Now I get to do her again for a friend.
Lets see if I can make her even better.

And the last (for this week :D ) is Kallen from Code Geass.

She is very cute kit, but have lots and lots of problems. The part fit is pretty good, but the amount of pin holes is astonishing (specially considering that she is an original).

I have three kits done and just waiting for photo shoot :D

Free spirit from Mr.Patient

I got this kit from a friend. His name is Steward (Mr.Patient or ArtyAMG)
This is one of the first complete figures that he sculpted. The way he captured the elegance, the ease and freedom of the character is just plain amazing. I was very happy to be able to paint one of his creations.

Kanu in plaid skirt

Another commission project is done.

I had to put a lot of time into modifying this kit.
The original sculpture had skirt in one piece and her body cut in half. I had to glue the body together (sand off her underwear), cut the skirt in half (so its removable) and create her underwear from scratch.
Pretty much everything on this kit is removable (even her long socks).
Lots of work, lots of fun.
I am very happy with results

Saber in a gown

Another commission work.

I had lots of trouble with this one o_O I really like the concept of this figure, but I wish sculptor would had spend a little more time on posing her. The pose doesn't feel right to me. But oh well, I had to do my best with what I had :D

She have lots of removable parts on her (it was one of the problems with fitting them all). Most of her clothing is removable (underwear, top bra, skirt, and shawl). Plus she have to different heads (one with hair down and one with pony tail).

It was a bit struggle to finish up this kit, but at the end of the day, I am happy with my results (plus the customer liked her too :D )

C.C. from Code Geass

This beautiful C.C. was a real pleasure to work with. This is an original kit (E doesn't have this kit) and she did not need almost any prep work at all. Too bad she is a commission kit, I would have like to keep her ( LOL , don't worry Chelsea, she is already shipped to you)
Her outfit is white with very non intrusive light green shading. I used a paler skin tone on her. As I said before, she was a real fun to work on.

Gymnast Rei

I had this kit for a while now, and almost had it painted too. First time when I painted her, I used purple and orange colors (go broncos lol), but I really didn't like how it came out. So I put her on a shelf and kind of forgot about her. Until I got another gymnast kit.

I had some new ideas for the new kit (not Rei), so since Rei was already preped for painting, I tried some ideas on her.

I am very happy with how she turned out. I should had spend a little bit more time on some areas... but I have way too many kits laying on my table.

The sparkly thingy on her chest is supposed to be NERV logo. Its not as clear as I imagine it to be.

This is the picture of the other colors I used. I am glad I changed it.

Eternal Sailor Moon

This kit brings a lots of good memories for me. I started to do resin kits because of the Sailor Moon show. I remember searching on eBay for finished statues of her and finding only unpainted resin kits. So I decided to actually try to paint one. I am very happy I did.

This is a commission work. Very simple, very colorful. I added some iridescent paint on her wings.

Roxanne

I decided to take a short break from commission work and finish up something for myself.
I had this kit laying around for a very long time, but never had enough time to start on her. Resently I was visiting one of my friends blogs ( http://www.gamekult.com/blog/otohime/ ) and was inspired by a web sites header (or at least by one of the girls on it). Thank you Otohime, you gave me a great idea for the colors :D

I was really excited to start on the kit, everything looked so easy at the begining. Oh boy, was I wrong. Can you say: " MASKING HELL" ? >.< Of course I should just blame myself for this self inflicted punishment, but after seeing her all complete, I think it was totally worth the effort.

Since this kit is not a commission, I decided to experiment a little bit. At the beginning, I was just going to do her hair the same way I always do it (base color with shaded highlights and shadows). But I decided to do something different. I have to thank Joa for this inspiration ( http://www.gkjapan.com/showthread.php?t=897 )

Even with all the masking and experimenting, it only took me about two weeks to complete her. I am very happy how she turned out.

Chouun kimono WIP

After I posted my finished pictures of Chouun in kimono, I had some people asking me how I did it. Here is a short WIP

First I painted the whole kimono in Folk Art Champagne pearl white. The paint shimmers like a real silk and creates a very nice effect when done.


Next I used Createx Clear red, followed by clear blue. The combined color of those two paints is purple, but will be a little bit different if you put blue first and red second. Just something to keep in mind.

At the end, I used some clear black on the edges of kimono, to give it a more depth.

Everything sealed with Testors Glosscote (multiple coats)
