Workbench - Takeo

I've been working on the little Takeo kit. She is almost done.
Today I finished her eyes. I had to reproduce the original eyes that I did on my Takeo. I think it came out pretty good :D

I have to say that I like this new Takeo better then my original one :D I just hope the client likes her as much as I do.
Also I finished up her base. Yesterday I added the clear "water" to the base. It was curing overnight. Since Takeo's swimsuit is purple, I painted the bottom of the base with the same purple too.

Just a few minor things to finish up and she is done.

Look what I got!

Look what I got :D

One of my friend got it for me from a car show (I guess its supposed to be a gear shift nob). It is a one huge piece of resin (very heavy). I love it. Specially his tongue and eyes. Its going to be so much fun to work on him.
I am a huge Ice Age fan and Scrat is one of the funniest characters in it. For a character that doesn't talk, he sure have lots of personality.
Now I just have some time to work on him.

Workbench - Takeo

Small update.
I've been working on finishing up Takeo kit. I got the base done (I was asked to create a duplicate of my old one). Still need to add "water".

The girl is almost done. I just need to paint her eyes and glue her hair. I left the eyes till the last possible moment :D

Its very interesting for me to see how my skills progressed since I painted my first Takeo. Usually I don't notice it, but since I had to do the same kit again, its noticeable.

Icy Kanu

Not too long ago, I finished up a Fire Kanu (1/3 scale), now its turn for the Ice.

She is pretty small, only 1/8 scale, but she does have lots of detailes on her. All of the blue lines are handpainted.

Its very nice to look at her right now, since its very hot and humid outside >.<

Another Joe

Ahhh, the summer is here. Everything is green, the weather is nice and warm, the grilling season started. Also, summer means that the baseball season is here too.

I had to do another Joe Mauer painting for a friend for the opening of "Twin's Fest".
If I say so myself, I am getting better at drawing him (this is my fourth Mauer) >.<

Anyway, its 16x20 inches, watercolor drawing with airbrushed background (I added the black frame in Photoshop)

Workbench - Takeo

Small update on Takeo girl.
Between waiting for Kallen's hair to dry, I had enough time to paint Takeo skin and her swimsuit.
I used a pearl powder for her suit. I really love how it turned out. Now I just have to paint the trim on the suit and finish up her hair.
Hopefully she will be done very soon.

Kallen from Code Geass

I finally finished her up.
After spending a very long time on fixing her hair, she is now ready to go to her new home.

1/4 Flaming Kanu

This is a commission piece, but also a contest entree for Summer Contest at the E2046 ( http://www.e2046.com/contest_album.php )

This kit is 1/4 scale, so its very very big. One of the biggest I had to work with, so I had to adjust some of my work techniques. One of them is that the parts are so heavy that my arm would get really tired holding a part. Still it was fun.

The kit itself was not the greatest. The sculpt of it is amazing, but the shape it came to me was something less exciting.
Lots of parts were broken (hair pieces, most of the tips from dragons, skirt broken in half, lots and lots of pin holes), since she came in a small box. But nothing major (just annoying).

I changed the colors on Kanu (customer request). I gave her red hair and I made it look like a flame. The sculpt really helped me with this idea :D
Usually when I use red, gold follows. So her armor is gold with clear red on the top of it. I had gold color airbrushed and red (and silver) hand painted.

All of her armor is removable. I had to put few magnets on the bra and some pins on her skirt.

I am very proud of my tiger skin. I think this is my most favorite part of this kit. I tried to make the back of the skin look like suede and I am very proud of result. It looks very soft and cuddly.

Oh, and I added some grass powder on the top of the base.
More pictures in my Photobucket account.
And don't be shy to stop by at E2046 to look at all the other entries.

Workbench - Kallen

A quick update on Kallen.

I had a lots of problems with this girl. This is an original kit, but the cast was worse then some of the recasts (at least the resin is soft). Whoever cast her, did not used a vacuum chamber to suck the bubbles out of the resin, so all the parts have lots and lots of tiny holes.

Hair pieces were the worst. Pretty much every inch of the surface had holes (or if it looked clean, I just needed to sand it a little bit and that would reveal a hole)

Thankfully this is all behind for me now. I am actually almost done with this lady. Just need to finish up her hair (again lol ).
This is how she looks at this moment.
