Mikuru from Haruhi

Here is another kit I was working last few days.

She is Mikuru from Haruhi anime (sorry can't remember how to spell her name). This is one of the sculpts that I actually like of Mikuru, because usually she looks very trashy.

I love her innocent face and the frog costume. I used some magents for the frog costume, so I can take it off and show her legs :)

Her body is all done, I just need to touch up her underware and glue all of the parts together. The only thing to do is finish up her frog costume. Maybe I can do it tomorrow.

Chouun Shiryu

After my last watercolor commition, I had lots of bottle up energy for resin kits and two days off. So here is some stuff that I have done.

I have this kit of Chouun Shiryu from Ikkitousen. She have this gorgeous flowing hair that just made me buy her. I really like her, but I have dicided that I am going to sell her once she is done. I need to pay some bills.

She is a challange for me just because she have few different features. She have two different bodies and two different heads. I am building her with all of the extra parts, so I will be able to put them together anyway I like it. The challange was in puttying the parts so they all fit together.
Here is some pictures of her two bodies. This is my first kit with bare breasts :) I think they turned out OK.

The next step is to mask all of the strips on her skirt. I am dreading this moments, so maybe I will leave it untill my next day off.

P.S. My stupid blog is acting up on me, so there is no spell check. Sorry about that, but its not my fault (seriously :) )

New watercolor commition

For the last week I was working on a watercolor commition for a friend. This is already seventh portrait I painted for him, and finally my skill with portraits is improving (or at least I think so ).
The background done with airbrush, the rest is watercolors and some watercolor pencils for small details. It is 16x20 inches.

The funny thing is that I had to go and really force myself into doing this portrait. I restricted myself from touching any resin kits until this guy was done. So for a week I was resin deprived. It was very late when I was done with the picture and the next day I had to go to work early. At work, the only thing I could think was that once I get home I get to work on my resin kits. :)

I think I have a problem. I am showing all signs of addiction. Must be the resin fumes.
So here is the result of my next two days after commition was done.

Faye from Cowboy Bebop

I got this kit from eBay and it is a Thai recast (yes, I know, stupid me ) The only reason I got it was because I really like the music box and I wanted to see how I can handle it. The kit itself wasn't that bad, the fit was very good, but it was very very hard. The music box was in OK shape, except the top part of it. I had to totally re sculpt it (see photos). One of the first things I did was saw off her shoes from her legs. It is much easier to paint and it looks more natural. Her hair was a mess too, so I had to use lots of putty to get in into shape. Still considering that this is a Thai recast I had fun building it. Now a little rant about the colors I really don't know who was the original designer for Faye character, but he (I bet its a HE, no respected woman would wear this) was totally color blind. I am not talking just about the outfit (which is very weird), no I am talking about colors. The guy picked all of the prime colors and put them all together. Yellow shirt, red jacket, pink stockings, blue shoes, orange bandanna, purple hair, green eyes, black spandex Color blind I tell you. So anyway, I had to adjust the colors a little bit. Orange bandanna is gone, its the same color as the shirt now. Her stockings is more natural beige color (and not glossy ). The buttons on her shirt match her shoes and there is purple shadows on her red jacket. I tried my best to bring the colors together and I actually like it now The funny thing was that I finished Faye very fast, but it took me forever to paint the music box and find a nice base for her. At last she is done.

Faye from Cowboy Bebop

This was an impulse buy. I like Cowboy Bebop a lot, but I already have way too many kits as it is. But sometimes I just can't resist. I got this kit on Ebay and yes it is a Thai recast. For some weird reason, I really wanted to work on the music box that Faye is sitting. The recast is not that bad (most of details were still there and the fit was very good), but the music box is a mess. I had to re-sculpt some of the parts for it.
This is what I had to work with.
And this is my own replica of the top part of the music box.

One of the first things I did was separate her shoes from her legs. I really don't understand why sculptors still do that. It is so much easier to paint if it is separate. But I guess it would be easier to make casts, the good thing that I can fix it.

The only big problem with Faye was her hair. The resin is very hard and brittle so I couldn't carve as much details as I would like. Plus, had some time consuming repair done on her jacket, ones it was painted. I didn't want to leave a connection line where the parts meet. Otherwise it was quite easy to put her together.

Now I have to finish up the music box and design a base for her. It is kind of funny that the part I wanted to paint is the last one I am doing.

Anyway here is some previews of Faye. Don't they look cute together?

Etna from Disgaea

Another one of my competition entries. This time for E2046 winter contest. I finished her and Shii at the same time, but forgot to post pictures. I keep forgetting that I have this blog and that I need to update it ones in the while.

Anyway, I didn't win, but it was lots of fun working on Etna. Plus the person who got the first place did really deserve it.

Arisugawa Shii is done.

Finally my Shii is done. I had lots of issues with her. First I had to repaint her thigh area twice. Next, her hair was a pain in the ... back. Also I had to repaint her sword at least three times ( it was dark silver, gold next, and final metal) I am very happy with her skin tone and her hair. I get lots of opposite responses about her stockings (too shiny), but I think it kind of fits her.
The best thing about her is that she is done.

I entered her on HobbyFanatics competition. Wish me luck.

This is my favorite picture.

Gone Fishing

I had this girl done for a while now (around 3-4 months), but she still needed a base. My friend gave me this drift wood and I just knew it was meant for this kit. At first I wanted her to run away with some jewels (cat burglar ) but I changed it at the end.

So my reasoning was like this:

Cats like fish - Fishing is good - I wish I was at the lake right now.

I think it worked out pretty well.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Rozen Maiden - Kanaria

I had a few days off, so I got to work on my Rozen Maiden kits. I had Kanaria all cleaned up and primed and ready to go, but I didn't had any time to actually finish her. But now she is all done.

Now I have a very nice audience on my shelf watching me work on other kits. They are waiting for the other Rozen Maiden dolls. I just hope they don't have to wait too long.
